About the Service

Land Grading, Done Right

Grading is the art of controlling where water goes. We use dozers, graders and skid steers to cut high spots, fill low ones and shape the surface so rain runs away from structures and toward safe outlets instead of pooling.

On new builds we rough grade for the foundation and drives, then come back for finish grading before seed or sod. On existing properties we correct low spots, steep banks and drainage that no longer works, and we explain every slope we create.

Music City Excavation brings land grading to homes, farms and businesses in Nashville and across 16 Middle Tennessee cities.

Questions About Land Grading

Still have a question?

Call 615-357-7797

How steep should a yard slope away from the house?

A common rule of thumb is a drop of about six inches over the first ten feet away from the foundation, and building codes and soil conditions can change that. Our free Slope and Grade Calculator helps you check.

Can you regrade a yard that already has grass?

Yes. We strip and save sod when we can, regrade underneath and re-lay or reseed the surface. We talk through what to expect before we start.

How long does grading take?

A typical residential regrade takes a few days, and larger sites take longer. Weather matters, and your estimate includes a realistic timeline.
