About the Service

Site Preparation & Building Pads, Done Right

A good pad is engineered by the dirt itself: the right fill, spread in layers and compacted to carry the load, with a slope and drainage that keep water from undermining it. We stake the pad, build it and check it, so the builder and the footing inspector have what they need.

We work for homeowners, custom builders and developers on homes, garages, barns, shops and commercial buildings, and we coordinate with your builder and surveyor so the pad matches the plans.

Music City Excavation brings site preparation & building pads to homes, farms and businesses in Nashville and across 16 Middle Tennessee cities.

What Goes Into Site Preparation & Building Pads

The pieces that make this service what it is. Mix and match to fit your project.

01

Start with a clean slate

Clearing and Stripping

Trees, brush and topsoil are removed or stockpiled so the pad sits on solid ground rather than organic material.

Cut, Fill and Compact

High spots are cut, low spots filled in thin lifts and compacted so the pad does not settle under the building.

Gravel Cap and Shape

A gravel cap, final grade and crowned edges give crews a clean working surface and keep water off the footings.

Drainage and Erosion Control

Questions About Site Preparation & Building Pads

Still have a question?

Call 615-357-7797

How thick should a building pad be?

It depends on the soil and the load. We look at what is already there and recommend fill depth, material and compaction with your builder.

Can you build a pad on a slope?

Often yes, with cut and fill, benching and drainage planned for the grade. We walk the slope and explain the options.

Do you coordinate with my builder and surveyor?

Yes. We work from your plans and stakes, check grades as we go and talk with your builder so the pad is ready when they are.
